Hi Edan! I have purchased so much clothing over the pandemic and I am so excited to start dressing my body again. My teenager, Harper, and I have been busy in the thrift shops. She is all vintage all the time. It's such a trip to see her reliving my own teenage years. But, these trips have reborn in me my own fashion sense, which was way on the back burner for quite a while. My husband actually just asked me when I decided to look so cool again. It felt nice:) So you are not alone. I read somewhere the the fashion of the Roaring 20s was due in large part to the Flu of 1918. I don't doubt it. So here's to our own Roaring 20s! Let's enjoy it while it lasts.

A book I love on clothes/fashion/women's bodies is Women in Clothes by Sheila Heti & a host of other contributors. Insightful, funny & poignant! When I think about my own fashion choices, I sometimes think of that Supreme Court case on obscenity laws, where one of the justices said "I know it when I see it." That's how I think of my style, which eludes categorization. I can't really describe it in a coherent way but I can quickly identify things that fit my general vibe when I spot them.

hi Edan! your PS got me to subscribe, thank you! I've been really missing your voice from Mom Rage, so this was just the poke I needed.

I, too, have worn hard pants most every day - I feel like if I wear sweats or leggings I'll just nap all day? I used to Dress Up for work - but I live in Seattle, so dressing up is like business casual at best - and it took me a while to figure out what to wear while WFH. Mostly it's jeans and a shirt/sweater that looks good on Zoom. But re: jeans. I've just discovered (for me - petite, muscular thighs, small waist) the holy grail: https://www.jcrew.com/p/womens_category/denim_jeans/curvy/curvy-vintage-straight-jean-in-warm-surf-wash/L4713?color_name=warm-surf-wash

Also I bought pants from an Instagram ad (Alder open-air pants) and they are...amazing? So now I'm wondering if I should just buy every item of clothing the Instagram algo serves up?

Thank you for subscribing, Kate! And thanks for the jeans recommendation, too! I have only ever ONCE purchased something from an Instagram ad--a cheap dress--and I lived to regret it. Never again! But I am intrigued by the phrase "open air pants"...hmmm...
